Police Chase Ends in High Street South Arrest Over Parcel Heist

Police swooped on a man in his 50s after a dramatic car chase in East Ham on Tuesday afternoon. At around 2.30pm, officers from Newham, backed by the elite Flying Squad, stopped a car on High Street South. The suspect faces charges of theft from a parcel delivery van, failing to stop for police, and driving offences.

Stolen Parcels Recovered Minutes After Break-In

The man was caught in possession of numerous parcels believed to have been stolen less than half an hour earlier. Three masked men had smashed into a parcel delivery van in Newham while the driver briefly left to make a drop. They raided the van and fled with a haul of packages. Police are still hunting two others involved in the theft.

Chase Ends in Collision With Three Police Vehicles

In a desperate bid to escape, the suspect’s car crashed into three police vehicles. Fortunately, no officers were hurt. The driver himself needed hospital treatment for injuries sustained in the collisions but remains in custody.
