Police Officer Stabbed in Mansfield Disturbance
Officers rushed to a disturbance in Mansfield just after 11pm on Saturday, 4 June. A woman was arrested, suspected of causing actual bodily harm.
Officer Stabbed During Arrest
Tensions exploded when the arrested woman stabbed an officer in the hand while being taken into custody. The officer was quickly treated and is recovering.
Suspect Held Over Assault on Emergency Worker
The 30-year-old woman faces charges of assaulting an emergency worker. Although arrested, she has since been released pending an ongoing investigation.
Police Condemn Attacks on Frontline Staff
We will never tolerate this kind of behaviour against our officers or emergency workers,” said Detective Sergeant Jo Eaton of Nottinghamshire Police.
“Our officers risk their safety daily to protect the public. No one should face verbal or physical attacks simply for doing their job.”
“Thankfully, neither officer was seriously hurt and both are receiving support from specialist teams.”
“Anyone who assaults emergency personnel will face thorough investigation and action.”
