Police have arrested a lorry driver following a fatal crash on the M20 that claimed the life of a beloved Ashford dad-of-two, described as a “pillar of the community.”

Dad, 36, Dies in Horrific M20 Crash

Arran McManus, 36, was driving his black Nissan Qashqai when it collided with two lorries—a white Scania articulated and a white MAN—on the London-bound M20 near Lenham.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene between junctions 9 and 8 early Tuesday morning. Tragically, Arran was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family Grieves ‘Soulmate’ and Football Coach

Arran’s partner, Ashleigh Devlin, paid an emotional tribute:

“I am heartbroken to share that on Tuesday morning, Arran, my partner, my soulmate, and best friend, was sadly taken too soon from us. He was the most wonderful dad to our two incredible children, and he loved them deeply. Arran will be sorely missed by his entire family circle.”

She revealed Arran was a devoted football coach and a key member of the executive team at Kennington Football Club where he was widely respected as a true pillar of the community.

Lorry Driver, 57, Held Over Deadly Crash

Kent Police have arrested a 57-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the MAN lorry, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains hospitalised in stable condition.

M20 Closed for Hours as Emergency Services Swarm

The motorway shut for several hours after the multi-vehicle smash. At least 10 ambulances, six police cars, and 11 fire engines rushed to the scene.

Meanwhile, the coastbound carriageway was temporarily closed to allow an air ambulance to land and provide urgent aid.
