Man Arrested After Stabbing in Devizes

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a brutal stabbing in Devizes earlier today. The attack took place in the Estcourt Street area just after 12:30 PM.

Victim Airlifted to Hospital

Police were called to reports of disorder in Estcourt Street. A man in his 20s was found with stab wounds and rushed by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital. His condition is currently stable, officials confirmed.

Suspect Held in Custody

Another man, also in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of a bladed article, and assault on an emergency worker. He remains in custody in Melksham for questioning.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Inspector Gareth Kitchener said: “Both the suspect and victim were seen running near Kwik-Fit and onto Sidmouth Street immediately after the incident. We urge anyone who witnessed the event and hasn’t contacted police to come forward.”

“We appreciate the community’s concern, especially as this happened in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon. We’ve made a swift arrest and believe there is no wider risk to the public at this time.”
