Police have identified the man who died in a horrific accident at Flathouse Quay, Portsmouth, on Friday evening. Mieczyslaw ‘Mitch’ Siwak, 34, from Bognor Regis, was fatally crushed between two shipping containers while working at Portsmouth International Port.

Emergency Services Called to Devastating Scene

Officers were called at 6.51pm after reports of a man suffering serious injuries. Sadly, Mitch was pronounced dead at the scene on the firm’s Prospect Road site. He worked for MMD Shipping Services.

Suspect Arrested and Released Pending Enquiry

A 35-year-old man from Sussex has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and theft linked to the investigation. He has since been released from police custody as inquiries continue.
