UK COVID-19 Death Toll Hits 6,159 as Cases Surge

The UK’s coronavirus crisis worsens, with deaths hitting 6,159 as testing ramps up across the country.

Testing Totals Soar

By 9am on 7 April, a massive 266,694 COVID-19 tests had been completed across the UK. On 6 April alone, 14,006 tests were carried out. Some patients have been tested multiple times for medical reasons.

So far, 213,181 people have been tested, with 55,242 confirmed positive. Note: Today’s tally excludes Manchester and one other area due to data delays. Northern Ireland’s testing data is also not included in the total tests completed.

Death Toll Rises

As of 5pm on 6 April, 6,159 hospital patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have died across the UK. The grim figures highlight the deadly spread inside hospitals.
