Murder Probe Launched After Elderly Man Dies in Islington Attack
Man, 75, Dies Following Assault on Seven Sisters Road
A 75-year-old man has tragically died after an assault on Seven Sisters Road, Islington. Emergency services were scrambled at around 11:35pm on Thursday, 27 February, following reports of an injured man.
London Ambulance Service paramedics and officers from the Metropolitan Police rushed to the scene. The victim was taken to hospital but sadly passed away the next day, Friday, 28 February.
Police have informed the man’s family. He is believed to be a Bolivian national. Formal identification and a post-mortem examination are planned.
Three Teen Girls Arrested in Connection with Attack
Three teenage girls, aged 14, 16, and 17, were initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) before the victim died. With the case now upgraded to murder, their arrests are under review.
The three remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
Police Reassure Shaken Islington Community
Superintendent Annmarie Cowley, who oversees policing in Islington, acknowledged the community’s shock and concern.
“I know this death will cause shock and very real concern in Holloway and the wider Islington area. I share those concerns and want to assure local people that a thorough police investigation is underway.”
Extra police patrols have been deployed across the area, especially over the weekend, to provide reassurance. Officers are encouraging residents to come forward with any information or concerns.
Detectives Work Around the Clock
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, leading the murder inquiry, confirmed swift action is underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
“Three people are in custody, and specialists from across the Met have been working to establish exactly what happened. Every possible line of inquiry is being followed, including forensic analysis and CCTV review.”
The investigation remains ongoing as police probe one of Islington’s most shocking crimes in recent times.
