A murder investigation is underway after a woman was found dead in a house fire in Gosport.

Firefighters Discover Tragic Scene

At 8.52am on July 30, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived at a blaze on Grange Crescent. Inside, firefighters found the body of a woman in her 20s.

Police Urge Public to Come Forward

Detective Inspector Toby Elcock confirmed cops are working closely with HFRS to get to the bottom of this suspicious death. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“We are in the early stages of this investigation and urge anyone with information to contact us,” said DI Elcock. “Were you in the area at the time? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously?”
