Murder Probe Launched After Body Found Near Guildford A3

A grisly discovery on Monday, 23 August, sparked a full-scale murder investigation by Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team. A body was found beside the A3 in Guildford, setting detectives on high alert.

Last Sightings of Helen Anderson Captured on CCTV

Today, police have released CCTV images showing Helen Anderson in her final moments. The footage, taken on Friday, 20 August, shows Helen around 10.30pm in the Wood Green Area.

Detective Inspector Chris Rambour described Helen’s appearance: “In these CCTV images, Helen Anderson is pictured wearing a distinctive, brightly coloured pink dress. She appears to have shaved shorter hair on one side and be wearing large dangly earrings.”

“We urge anyone who saw Helen on this night, or at any other time close to these events, to get in touch immediately to aid our investigation.”

Double Decker Bus Linked to Helen’s Death

Police have also unveiled photos of a decommissioned double decker bus believed connected to Helen’s death. The vehicle was reportedly seen travelling near the A1 around Watford and Hatfield between midnight and 4am on Saturday, 21 August.

Authorities appeal to anyone who was in the area during these hours to come forward with information, no matter how small.

Three Arrests Made – One Charged

  • Dane Messam, 52, of Henry Road, Hackney, has been charged with murder.
  • A 50-year-old Enfield man is under arrest for suspicion of murder but has been bailed.
  • A 51-year-old Hackney man faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder and is also on bail.

The trial is set to begin on 14 February 2022.
