Tragic Diving Accident at Lulworth Cove: Man in His 60s Found Dead

Carvalho Ildelindo da Silveira, a man in his 60s from Bramdean, Hampshire, vanished while diving off Lulworth Cove on Saturday, 7 August 2021. He was last spotted in the water around 4.15pm and reported missing to the RNLI at about 8.15pm that evening.

Body Discovered After Three-Day Search

On Tuesday, 10 August 2021, at 3.05pm, divers from Devon & Cornwall Police, aided by Dorset Police Marine Section, sadly recovered a body in Lulworth Bay. Although formal ID is pending, the deceased is believed to be Carvalho.

Heartbreaking News for Family, Police Thank Public

Carvalho’s family has been informed of the tragic loss. Authorities do not suspect foul play, and the HM Coroner has been notified.

Chief Inspector Gavin House, Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Carvalho at this extremely difficult time. Officers would like to thank everyone who shared the original appeal as well as colleagues from all the partner agencies who assisted in the search.”
