Tragic Arson Deaths of Elderly Couple Shake St Helens Community

The families of an elderly couple who died in a suspected arson attack have released touching photos as police ramp up the hunt for answers.

Peter Eric Greener, 77, and Sheila Jackson, 83, lost their lives after a deliberate fire ravaged their home on South John Street, St Helens, late on Tuesday, 15 July. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but were powerless to save them.

Heartbreak in St Helens

The community is reeling from this horrific act. Neighbours have laid floral tributes outside the couple’s home and described them as “kind, gentle people who didn’t deserve this.”
