Man, 61, Dies in Barnsley Stabbing – Three Arrested
Tragedy struck Barnsley on Sunday afternoon when a 61-year-old man was fatally stabbed. Three suspects – two men and a woman – have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Deadly Fight on Burton Road
The horrifying attack happened around 4.23pm on Burton Road in Monk Bretton. South Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a violent altercation between a group of men. Emergency responders found the victim with stab wounds to his chest. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s family has been informed and are receiving support from officers. Police have asked the public to respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time.
Three Held as Police Probe Murder
Detectives moved quickly, arresting a 21-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 19-year-old woman in connection with the stabbing. All remain in custody as inquiries continue.
Road closures remain in place around the area while police gather evidence. South Yorkshire Police have thanked locals for their cooperation during the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Kemp said, “We know our communities will be extremely shaken by this tragic incident. We are working fast to establish the facts. We ask anyone with footage or information to come forward. Please do not share any circulating videos or speculate on social media, out of respect for the victim and their family.”
