Mother and Stepfather Get 78 Years for Brutal Teen Murder
A Leeds couple have been slammed with a combined 78 years behind bars for beating a 15-year-old boy to death. Agnieszka Kalinowska, 36, and Andrezej Latoszewski, 38, were sentenced today at Leeds Crown Court for the savage murder of Sebastian Kalinowski on November 3, 2022.
Wicked Abuse Left Teen With 23 Broken Ribs
Emergency crews rushed to the Huddersfield home on August 13 after Sebastian was found unresponsive. Despite efforts, the teen was confirmed dead at hospital. Medical reports revealed the horror: Sebastian had suffered 23 fractured ribs over time and died from sepsis.
CCTV footage recovered from the property showed horrific abuse. Sebastian was beaten with weapons disguised to avoid visible injuries — including a bed frame slat, a wooden spindle, an electric flex, and even a needle.
Isolated Teen Suffered in Silence
The court heard Sebastian, who spoke little English, had only arrived in the UK two years earlier to live with his mother. He lived an isolated existence with no one to turn to.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Nicholson of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said: “This has been without doubt the most harrowing case I have experienced in my 29 years as a police officer.
“Sebastian was a child who could not have been more isolated and appears to have suffered the most appalling abuse in silence, even coming to see it as normal.”
“Latoszewski and Kalinowska abused this boy in a manner which was wicked and evil. We may never know why they chose to act this way.”
“We found overwhelming evidence including phone messages discussing the attacks. The CCTV footage we reviewed upset even the most experienced detectives.”
“The assaults were carried out to hide any evidence. Both will now spend many years in prison reflecting on why they inflicted so much pain and suffering — and ultimately death — on an innocent boy.”
Harsh Life Sentences for Both Killers
- Andrezej Latoszewski handed life with a minimum of 39 years for murder, neglect, and causing or allowing a child’s death.
- Agnieszka Kalinowska also given life with a minimum of 39 years for the same offences.
