Three Teens Charged with Rape in Rochdale Shock
Three boys aged 13, 14, and 15 have been charged following a rape incident reported on Saturday 10 February 2024 in Newbold, Rochdale.
Details of the Charges
Each boy faces one count of rape of a female under 16. On top of that, all three are jointly charged with two further counts of rape involving the same victim.
A fourth boy arrested in connection with the case has been released without charge.
Next Steps in the Case
The trio is due to appear at Manchester Youth Court on 24 March 2025.
Meanwhile, police continue to support the victim, who is being helped by specially trained officers.
Police Statement Warns Against Speculation
Detective Superintendent Phil Key said: “This investigation has seen extensive and thorough work reviewing all available evidence in this case. We are now in a position to charge three boys following the incident last year.”
“We continue to provide support to the victim and her wellbeing has been a priority for us over the last 12 months.”
“I would remind the public not to speculate on names of those they believe to be involved, as those under 18 have a legal right to anonymity. Speculating risks justice and could lead to criminal proceedings against those naming individuals.”
