Two Men Arrested After Shocking Stabbing Near Mosque in Plumstead
Two men have been arrested following a stabbing outside a mosque on Plumstead Road, SE18, on Friday afternoon, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. The attack happened at around 1pm, sparking a rapid response from emergency services — including armed officers.
Armed Police Swarm Mosque After Suspect Flees Inside
Armed police flooded the scene after reports that one of the suspects ran into the nearby mosque. Officers quickly located and detained the man inside. Thankfully, no one inside the mosque was injured, and it was confirmed the stabbing did not occur within the place of worship.
Victim Hospitalised; Both Suspects Held on Serious Charges
The victim, a man in his 30s, was rushed to hospital with stab wounds. His condition remains unclear. Two men were arrested at the scene. Both face charges of grievous bodily harm and remain in custody for questioning.
“Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Plumstead Road at around 13:00hrs on Friday, 11 April,” said a police spokesperson. “Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service. Enquiries continue.”

Police set up cordons along Plumstead Road, causing travel disruption during busy Friday prayers. Locals expressed shock but praised the quick response. One bystander said, “It was scary at first seeing armed police, but they handled it quickly. The mosque stayed calm, and thankfully no one inside was hurt.”
