Drugs Raid in Portsmouth: Cannabis Plants Tossed from Window
Police swooped on a Portsmouth property during a drug bust, forcing suspects to chuck cannabis plants from a window. The dramatic raid in Fratton led to a man’s arrest on suspicion of growing and intending to supply Class B drugs.
Police Descend on Fratton Property
At around 11:30am on Sunday, February 23, uniformed and undercover officers were spotted in an alley at New Road and Kingston Road. Two police vans and a car were parked as the team moved in.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: “Upon entering the property, officers discovered a cannabis grow consisting of 17 plants. Five of these plants appeared to have been thrown out of a window as police arrived.”
Man Arrested as Grow Room Busted
Officers arrested a 47-year-old Portsmouth man suspected of cultivating cannabis and possession with intent to supply. Video footage shows police dismantling the indoor grow operation, removing plants, lighting, ventilation, and irrigation gear.
The seizure is part of a wider crackdown on drug crime in the area. Police have urged locals to stay alert and report any suspicious drug activity.
