Shock Horror in North Notts as Horse Found Brutally Mutilated

Alfie the Cob Found Dead in Carlton-in-Lindrick

Horse owners in North Nottinghamshire have been rocked by a horrific discovery. Alfie, a 16-year-old traditional tri-coloured cob, was found dead and mutilated in a field near Worksop. The grim scene unfolded at a property off Owday Lane, Carlton-in-Lindrick, on Thursday morning (25 July) at around 10:30am.

Alfie was last seen in good health by his owner the night before at about 7pm. The shocking attack has sent ripples through the local community.

Police Launch Intensive Investigation

Nottinghamshire Police, led by Chief Inspector Clive Collings – expert in rural and wildlife crime – have launched a full-on inquiry. They’re scouring CCTV footage, conducting forensic tests, and going door-to-door to gather any clues. Collings called the attack “a sickening, heartless assault on a defenseless animal.” He pleaded with the public to come forward with any information.

The force is especially keen to see doorbell camera footage or reports of suspicious activity between 7pm on Wednesday and 10:30am on Thursday.

Warning Issued to Horse Owners

Police have issued a stark warning, urging horse owners in the area to stay vigilant and take extra precautions. Anyone with information, no matter how small, is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 244 of 25 July 2024.

The community and local authorities are working round the clock to stop further attacks and catch those responsible.
