Tragic Swimming Incident Claims Life at Whiting Bay
Cian Nugent was one of five swimmers enjoying the waters near Whiting Bay when disaster struck on Friday. Three of the group got into trouble about 3km from Ardmore, but tragically, Mr Nugent did not make it out alive.
Emergency Teams Race to Rescue
Rescue efforts kicked off immediately. The Coast Guard’s helicopter 117, Youghal RNLI lifeboat, gardaí, and fire crews rushed to the scene. Despite being airlifted to Cork University Hospital, Mr Nugent was pronounced dead.
