Banksy’s New Wolf Artwork Snatched in Under an Hour!

A fresh Banksy piece on a Peckham rooftop vanished less than an hour after the street artist dropped it on Instagram. The stencil showed a wolf silhouette howling on a satellite dish, part of Banksy’s latest animal-themed London tour.

Stolen from Rye Lane Roof

On Thursday afternoon, Banksy teased fans with a snap of his new wolf artwork perched atop a Rye Lane shop. But the artwork’s life was brief.

Photos from the scene showed someone climbing a ladder, rippling the satellite dish from its perch, with an accomplice steadying the ladder below. Moments later, a person in denim shorts was seen walking off clutching the prized piece.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called to reports of the theft at 1:52 PM. “There have been no arrests. Inquiries continue,” a spokesperson said.

Peckham Pieces Face Grim Fate

Quick disappearances are no stranger to Banksy’s Peckham works. Back in March, another Banksy artwork was wiped away just hours after being confirmed authentic. In December, a stop sign piece featuring military drone motifs also vanished swiftly.

Animal Art Takes London by Storm

The howl of the wolf is just the latest in a spree of Banksy animal artworks popping up across London this week. Monday’s debut near Kew Bridge featured a goat with tumbling rocks above a CCTV camera. Tuesday gifted Chelsea with twin elephants reaching out with trunks on a building wall. East London’s Brick Lane saw a trio of monkeys swinging under a bridge—hints of the classic “see no evil” proverb but with Banksy’s twist: the monkeys didn’t cover eyes, ears, or mouths.

Banksy Keeps London Buzzing

Recent Banksy stunts have sparked huge public buzz and debate. At Glastonbury in June, a Banksy migrant boat installation caused controversy, with then-Home Secretary James Cleverly slamming it as “vile” and trivialising small boat crossings. Banksy shrugged off the criticism as “a bit over the top.”

As his iconic street art continues to vanish moments after appearing, questions swirl about how to preserve these cultural gems while keeping them public and accessible.
