Bexleyheath on Alert After Knife Sighting Near Broadway Shopping Centre
Police have been handed extra powers after reports of a person allegedly carrying a knife near Bexleyheath’s Broadway shopping centre. The alarm was raised around 6pm on September 12, but officers were unable to locate the suspect on arrival.
Dispersal Order Activated to Tackle Disorder
In response, officers have enforced a Section 35 dispersal order covering the Broadway area. This gives police the power to exclude individuals from the zone for up to 48 hours. The order, authorised by Inspector Keen, remains in place until 6pm on September 14.
“A section 35 dispersal order has been authorised… due to recent incidents of disorder & is in force until 14/09/24 at 1800hrs,” Bexley MPS said on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
No Stabbings Reported, But Police Remain Vigilant
The Metropolitan Police confirmed no one has been injured and no stabbing has occurred so far. Officers are continuing patrols to keep the area safe and urge anyone with information to come forward.
