Wavertree Horror: Woman Sexually Assaulted in Pub, Boyfriend Attacked

Merseyside Police have slammed the panic button after a terrifying sexual assault at the Brookhouse pub on Smithdown Road. CCTV snaps show two men who might hold the key to cracking the case.

Harsh Attack Inside Local Pub

It all kicked off around 11.20pm on Thursday, September 21. A man allegedly grabbed a woman’s hair and made unwelcome physical advances inside the pub. The ordeal left the victim with painful injuries to her face and leg, needing hospital treatment.

Boyfriend Steps In – Gets Punched

The victim’s boyfriend stepped up, confronting the attacker over his disgusting behaviour. His courage came at a cost – he was punched in the face, suffering a nasty cut lip. Security swooped in to break up the fight, sending both sides back to their mates.

Violence Erupts Outside, Suspects Flee in VW

As closing time neared, tensions flared again outside the pub. Another brawl broke out involving both groups. The two suspects believed to be behind the sexual assault then fled in a black Volkswagen Tiguan.

Police Hunt Crucial Witnesses

Detectives have scoured CCTV and gathered witness statements. They’ve now released images of two men who could hold vital info to help nail the culprits. Detective Inspector Michael Fletcher said:

“This was a dangerous and unprovoked attack. The woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown man. Her boyfriend bravely confronted the offender but was punched. What followed was a fight involving five men. We want to assure the public that incidents like this are rare.”

“Our investigation continues to track down two suspects. Such vile behaviour won’t be tolerated.”
