Scarborough Burglar Jailed for Knife Siege and Violent Robbery
Joseph George Johnson, from Fieldside, Scarborough, has been locked up for six years for aggravated burglary and a further 30 months for assault with intent to commit robbery.
Knife Held to Woman’s Throat in Shocking Home Invasion
On 21 June last year, Johnson and a teenage accomplice forced their way into a Scarborough family home. Johnson threatened a woman and a 15-year-old girl with a knife at their throats, demanding money. The pair fled with just a Playstation controller.
Brutal Attack with a Screwdriver Months Earlier
In a separate violent incident on 31 May 2020, Johnson menaced a 19-year-old man in Jonno’s Field, Scarborough. Holding a screwdriver to his face, Johnson stabbed the victim twice while forcing him and two friends to hand over their money.
Additional Cannabis Supply Charge and Court Outcome
Johnson also pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis after police found drugs and paraphernalia at his home in October 2019. He was sentenced at York Crown Court on 8 April 2021.
The teenage accomplice from the home invasion was referred to a Youth Justice Panel. Johnson was slapped with a 10-year restraining order banning him from the family’s street and any contact with them.
