Murder investigation has been launched after Southampton man is killed

Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has launched a murder investigation after a man injured in an attack in Southfield Road, Oxford, died in hospital this evening (6/3). The victim, who was aged 22, and from Southampton, was struck by a vehicle and stabbed several times in the attack last Wednesday (27/2) and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Despite efforts to save the man’s life, he has sadly since died of his injuries. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Blaik, of the Major Crime Unit said: “We believe the incident started at approximately 11.20pm in Ridgefield Road before moving into Southfield Road and involved a number of people. “Sadly, the injuries sustained by the victim have proved fatal, and a murder investigation has been launched. “I am continuing to appeal for any witnesses who may have seen what happened, or have any information about this incident to contact us. “I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have mobile phone, CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch. Anyone with information is asked to call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101, quoting URN 1134 06/03/2019.
