Gwen Parry-Jones Named First CEO of Great British Nuclear
Great British Nuclear has tapped Gwen Parry-Jones OBE as its inaugural CEO, stepping in on an interim basis from 1 May 2023. The government-backed body aims to spearhead the UK’s nuclear revival, and Parry-Jones is set to lead the charge.
Rob Fletcher Takes Helm at Magnox Ltd
With Parry-Jones moving over, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has appointed Rob Fletcher as interim CEO of Magnox Ltd. Fletcher will steer the company through critical nuclear missions, including decommissioning some of the UK’s most complex plants.
David Peattie, NDA Group CEO: “We wish Gwen well as she moves to an exciting role of huge national significance where I know she will have a major impact. I’d like to thank Gwen for her significant contribution to Magnox and the NDA group.
I’m pleased Rob has agreed to step into the CEO role while Gwen supports Great British Nuclear. Rob is a hugely experienced nuclear professional who will drive Magnox forward as it tackles complex decommissioning and grows into new roles.”
Industry Veterans Praise Leadership Changes
Lawrie Haynes, Chair of Magnox Ltd: “Gwen has been an outstanding leader during Magnox’s transition back to NDA ownership. The board and I are very grateful.
I’m delighted to welcome Rob as interim CEO. With over 35 years in nuclear and two years on the Magnox board, he knows the business and its challenges well. Rob will focus on decommissioning the UK’s legacy sites, managing Dounreay’s integration with Magnox, and handling EDF’s AGR stations as they defuel.”
Rob Fletcher: “Magnox is a fantastic business of huge national importance, set to grow in the years ahead. I’m privileged to step in as interim CEO and look forward to working with the talented teams to deliver for the UK.”
