Tragic Bus Crash Claims Life of 9-Year-Old Girl on Watling Street
Fatal Collision Shocks Local Community
At 9.05am on Saturday, 3 August, horror unfolded on Watling Street near Halcot Avenue as a bus struck two young siblings. A nine-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
Despite the heroic efforts of medical staff, she tragically died on Monday afternoon, 5 August.
Brother Taken to Hospital—Family Devastated
The girl’s five-year-old brother was also taken to hospital as a precaution. Both children were with a family member at the time of the collision.
The family has been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers as the community reels from the heartbreaking loss.
Bus Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Dangerous Driving and Drug Offenses
Police detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are leading a full investigation into the crash.
The male bus driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and drug-driving. He is currently on bail with court dates set for early November.
