Deadly Chemical Suicide Shocks Camden Flat
Emergency crews raced to a flat in Windsor House, Cumberland Market, Camden this evening after reports of a suspected chemical suicide.
At around 6pm, London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London Fire Brigade (LFB) teams were called to the scene. Hazardous canisters believed to contain dangerous substances were discovered inside the property, sparking a major response.
Hazmat Teams Sweep Area as Scene Locked Down
Authorities quickly set up a hazardous materials rendezvous point at 1 Street, launching full hazmat protocols. Paramedics, fire crews, and police cordoned off Windsor House and the surrounding area to protect the public.
The London Ambulance Service confirmed their teams arrived first and worked closely with firefighters to secure the flat.
So far, the identity of the deceased remains unknown. Officials have reported no other injuries related to the incident.
Met Police Launch Full Investigation
The Metropolitan Police are now leading the probe. They have not ruled out the presence of dangerous chemicals and will carry out forensic tests inside the flat. Officers are also investigating the source of the hazardous canisters found at the scene.
“We responded to an incident on Cumberland Market this evening where a person was sadly pronounced deceased. Crews identified chemical hazards, and specialist teams were called in to assist,” a London Ambulance Service source confirmed.
Local residents have been urged to steer clear of the area while emergency operations continue.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added:
“We were called at 4.52pm yesterday (19 June) to reports of an unwell person in Cumberland Market, NW1. We sent ambulance crews, fast response paramedics and an incident response officer. Sadly, a person was found dead at the scene.”
