Three people charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a traveller site near Calcutt have been remanded in custody following their first court appearance. Shane Porter, 35, of Calcutt Park, Calcutt, appeared before magistrates charged with the murder of Jimmy Ward, 36, and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. Also appearing were Eddie Porter, 74, and Tammy Brown, 42, both of Luton, who are charged with assisting an offender and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. All three defendants were remanded in custody.
Crown Court appearance
The trio are due to appear via video link before Bristol Crown Court on Friday 7 August. The charges follow the death of Jimmy Ward, who died after a shooting at a traveller site in Calcutt, near Cricklade, on Sunday.
Investigation continues
Wiltshire Police said a crime scene remains in place at the site while detectives continue their enquiries. An increased police presence also remains in the area as officers carry out further investigative work. Detectives have previously thanked the local community for its patience and support during the ongoing investigation and continue to appeal for anyone with information about the incident to come forward. As criminal proceedings are now active, all defendants are entitled to a fair trial.
