Woman Seriously Hurt in Rocky Shore Fall Sparks Dramatic Night Rescue
A 43-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after falling on the rocky shore between Thorness and Gurnard last night. The incident triggered a major rescue involving the Cowes RNLI lifeboat and multiple Island coastguard teams.
Quick Response from Lifeboat Crew and Coastguards
The woman was in severe pain and received urgent treatment on-site from Dr Will King, a lifeboat crew member. The Cowes lifeboat launched at 10.25 p.m. to reach her in the treacherous terrain.
Urgent Transfer and Hospital Admission
Upon arrival at Trinity Landing in Cowes, the injured woman was swiftly stretchered to a waiting ambulance. She was then taken to St Mary’s Hospital for further care.
Massive Team Effort Into Midnight
- Coastguards from Bembridge, the Needles, and Ventnor all took part in the rescue.
- The lifeboat returned to base at midnight after a tense mission lasting over an hour and a half.
