Man Found Guilty of Raping 13-Year-Old Girl in Totton
Denis Huel Kadena, 34, was today convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in his van on Hill Street, Totton, last September.
The defendant, from Yorke Road, Southsea, denied all charges. But after a four-day trial, the jury at Southampton Crown Court delivered their guilty verdict on 24 March.
Shocking Attack on Young Girl Walking Home
The teenage victim reported that while walking back to school along Testwood Lane, an unknown man offered her a lift. Instead of driving her to school, he took her to a secluded spot on Hill Street and attacked her.
Sentencing Set for May as Police Praise Community and Victim
Kadena has been remanded in custody and will return to Southampton Crown Court on 12 May for sentencing.
Detective Inspector Claire Shawley said: “We are pleased with the court’s verdict today, and I want to commend the victim for her incredible courage throughout this ordeal and trial.”
“This conviction was only possible thanks to the local community who came forward with vital evidence. We want to reassure anyone reporting sexual assaults that they will be believed and supported by specially trained officers.”
