€3 Million Heroin Haul Shakes Dublin as Two Men Nabbed
Major Garda Drug Bust in Coolock
Two men have been arrested and a whopping €3 million worth of heroin seized in a huge Garda operation cracking down on organised crime in Dublin. The National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau swooped on a vehicle in Coolock on Friday, 2 May 2025. Inside, officers found around 21 kilograms of suspected heroin, now awaiting forensic confirmation.
Second Arrest Follows Further Enquiries
After the initial car stop and arrest, Gardaí tracked down and detained a second suspect at a different location. Both men remain in custody at a north Dublin Garda station under drug trafficking charges.
Targeting Dublin’s Drug Gangs
The seized drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for detailed testing. Assistant Commissioner Angela Willis stressed the impact of heroin on communities:
“The sale and supply of heroin has an especially harmful impact, not only destroying people’s lives but leaving a lasting effect on entire communities in Ireland and elsewhere. Disrupting heroin trafficking remains a central focus of our work and we will continue to target the criminal organisations that operate at a global level with the intention of impacting the lives of ordinary people all over this country.”
Ongoing War on Drugs
This latest strike ties into wider investigations into transnational and Dublin-based organised crime groups. Gardaí vow to keep the pressure on illegal drug networks terrorising communities across the capital.
