Major Police Incident Shuts Falling Lane in West Drayton

Chaos hit West Drayton this afternoon after a serious assault in Yiewsley Recreation Ground. Falling Lane was shut both ways following the violent fracas, causing traffic chaos and bus diversions.

Man Arrested Following Brutal Assault

Police rushed to the scene around 2.10pm on Tuesday, April 23, responding to reports of an alleged assault. A large police cordon sealed off the park between High Street and Otterfield Road. The Metropolitan Police confirmed a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and affray.

The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered injuries to his leg and abdomen, but thankfully his wounds are not believed to be life-threatening. The suspect also sustained facial injuries. Both men were taken to hospital for treatment.

“Police are investigating an assault that took place on Wednesday, 23 April around 14:10hrs at Yiewsley Recreation Ground, West Drayton. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance. A man in his 30s suffered injuries to his leg and abdomen and was taken to hospital. Another man, aged 34, was also taken to hospital and arrested on suspicion of affray and GBH. We await an update on his condition.”

Police have stressed that the two men were known to each other and confirmed there is no threat to the public.

Bus Routes Rerouted Amid Heavy Traffic

Transport for London issued warnings that bus routes U1, U3, and U5 are being diverted through Horton Road, Stockley Road, and Park View Road. Key stops skipped include:

  • Apple Tree Avenue
  • Otterfield Road
  • Yiewsley Library
  • Yiewsley High Street

Drivers face heavy congestion near West Drayton station’s High Street, while traffic flows better along the River Pinn side.
