Early Morning Crash Shakes Brecon Chase

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after a van crash in Brecon Chase, Minster, in the early hours. The vehicle smashed into an electrical pole, causing major damage and knocking out power to dozens of homes. The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving and later bailed to return on March 20, 2025.

Power Mayhem Hits Hundreds of Homes

  • 49 homes lost electricity immediately after the crash.
  • UK Power Networks engineers arrived just after 3am to assess the damage.
  • For safety, power was temporarily shut off to 787 more customers between 3:21am and 4:29am.
  • Partial power restored to the initial 49 homes from 9:35am, with full restoration by 1:09pm.

“Our engineers worked swiftly to restore power while ensuring safety during the repairs. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience,” a UK Power Networks spokesperson said.
