Murder probe launched after tragic death of child in Faringdon
Thames Valley Police have opened a murder investigation after a young child was found dead this afternoon in Bromsgrove Cottages, Faringdon.
Murder investigation under way
Police were called to the scene at around 1.20pm today. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of a child. Detectives have now confirmed a murder inquiry is underway.
Det Insp Dave Hubbard of the Major Crime Unit said: “Following the discovery of a deceased child, we have launched a murder investigation. The next of kin have been informed and we are offering support to them.”
Arrest made, police urge public to help
An arrest has already been made in connection with the case. Authorities are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Community on alert as police boost presence
Supt Rory Freeman, LPA Commander for South and Vale of White Horse, described the discovery as “very shocking” and warned it will deeply affect Faringdon residents.
To reassure the public, there will be an increased police presence in the area. Supt Freeman encouraged anyone struggling with the news to speak with the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
