A police cordon remains in place at Primrose Hill after a 16-year-old girl reported being raped in the park late on Friday night.
The incident was reported just before 11pm on Friday, 11 April, when Metropolitan Police officers on patrol were flagged down by the teenager on Regents Park Road. She told officers she had been raped in the park and was immediately taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. She is now being supported by specialist police officers trained to assist victims of sexual violence.
Crime Scene Still Active
As of Sunday (13 April), a large crime scene remains in place, with at least a dozen officers seen working within the cordoned-off area. Images shared on social media by local community group @PrimroseWatch show extensive police tape around parts of the park and multiple officers conducting a search.
The Met Police have confirmed that no arrests have yet been made, but enquiries are ongoing. Forensic teams have been seen combing the area, and police are appealing for any witnesses or those with information to come forward.
Incident Coincides with Park Closure Measures
The attack took place on the first night of the year that Royal Parks implemented weekend night-time closures at Primrose Hill. The park is now closed from 10pm to 6am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until October in a bid to curb anti-social behaviour. It remains open 24 hours a day during the week.
Royal Parks has been approached for comment about the incident.
Police Appeal
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“This is a deeply concerning report and we are doing everything possible to support the victim and find the person responsible. We ask anyone who was in the Primrose Hill or Regents Park Road area between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Friday night to contact us.”
