Reckless Roads: 10 South East London Drivers Sentenced at Bexley Magistrates’ Court

 

This week’s listings at Bexley Magistrates’ Court showcased the consequences of dangerous and illegal driving across south east London — from high-speed offences to drink- and drug-driving. Ten motorists faced bans, fines, and in some cases, rehabilitation requirements.

Court Sentences at a Glance

Drink-Driving Offences

  • Amber Downs, 21, of Sidcup, fined £1,295 and banned for 24 months (reducible by 24 weeks) after recording 92 mcg of alcohol in 100 ml of breath.
    (VW Polo, Avery Hill Road, Eltham – April 21)
  • Karnail Kular, 55, of Grays, received an 18-month ban and £253 in fines for drink-driving a Ford Transit with a reading of 67 mcg.
    (Westhorne Avenue, Eltham – April 24)
  • Tyler Miler, 25, of Lewisham, fined £253 and banned for 12 months (reducible by 13 weeks) after testing 44 mcg.
    (BMW, Bromley Hill – April 6)

Drug-Driving Cases

  • Charlie Browne, 25, of Thamesmead, banned for 15 months and fined £253 for driving with 4 µg/L THC in his system.
    (Ford Fiesta, Eltham – March 20)
    He also admitted driving without a licence and possessing cannabis — the drug was ordered destroyed.
  • Dotun Falaiy, 25, of Plumstead, fined £379 and banned for 12 months for driving with 5.3 µg/L THC in his blood.
    (Mercedes C-Class, Plumstead – February 20)
  • Rytis Cernauskas, 28, of Welling, banned for 36 months and fined £253 after testing 3.7 µg/L THC.
    (Vauxhall Astra, Lewisham – March 25)

Speeding and Road Offences

  • Selda Uraz, 27, of Eltham, fined £358 and disqualified for 56 days for exceeding a 20 mph limit.
    (Mercedes AMG, Amersham Road, New Cross – January 22)
  • Peter Everard, 67, of Welling, fined £100 for driving above 20 mph.
    (Jeep Renegade, Sydenham – September 30, 2024)
  • Stephen Howes, 56, of Bromley, fined £381 and banned seven days for exceeding 40 mph.
    (Toyota Corolla, A20 Sidcup Bypass – March 13, 2024)
  • Derick Brefo, 38, of Eltham, fined £140, with three penalty points for driving above 40 mph.
    (Renault Captur, A20 Sidcup Bypass – May 24, 2024)
