Doncaster is reeling after 15-year-old Darius Popan was found unwell on the Trans Pennine Trail on Saturday evening and later died in hospital. The young cadet’s unexpected death has rocked the community, leaving friends and family devastated.
Three Teens Arrested as Police Probe Death
Darius was discovered near Sprotbrough and Warmsworth at 7:47pm on July 27. Despite emergency treatment and a rushed hospital trip, he passed away early Sunday. Police have arrested two 17-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl in connection with the case. They remain in custody while investigations continue.

Darius, a member of the Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadets, was remembered as a polite and kind soul. The Army Cadets issued a heartfelt tribute: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce Cadet Darius Popan’s passing. Our thoughts go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time. South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information but warn against rumours spreading on social media. A spokesperson said, “Please be mindful of the ongoing investigation. Avoid speculating on the circumstances of this tragic death.”
