Fire Forces Evacuation on London Crossrail Project
About 300 workers were rushed out of a tunnel on the London Crossrail project after a fire erupted near Abbeywood this afternoon.
Blaze at Abbeywood Waste Site
London Fire and Rescue scrambled two fire engines and 10 firefighters to tackle roughly two tonnes of burning waste on Church Manorway, Abbeywood. A thick cloud of toxic smoke drifted across the area, threatening public safety.
Train Chaos Hits North Kent Line
The smog forced the suspension of trains on the North Kent line as emergency crews battled the blaze. This latest incident follows early-morning chaos caused by another freight train fire near Sevenoaks at 5am, which already disrupted travel.
TFL has been approached for comment on the ongoing situation.
