Tragedy on A21: Paramedic Killed in Ambulance and Lorry Crash
A devastating crash on the A21 near Sevenoaks has claimed the life of a female paramedic. The collision between a lorry and an ambulance happened just after 8pm on the Sevenoaks bypass, sparking a huge emergency response.
Emergency Crews Rush to Scene
Kent Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire engines to the crash site. Using hydraulic rescue tools, crews freed two casualties trapped inside the ambulance. Sadly, the female paramedic was pronounced dead at the scene.
- A male paramedic was airlifted to Kings College Hospital with serious multiple injuries.
- A student paramedic suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital.
- The lorry driver escaped with minor injuries.
SECAmb Pays Tribute
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague,” said Emma Williams, SECAmb Executive Director of Operations. “Our heartfelt sympathies go to her family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.”
Williams added that the ambulance was empty of patients at the time of the crash and thanked the police, fire, and air ambulance crews for their response. She urged anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward to police.
Road Closure Causes Chaos
The A21 coast-bound remained closed for hours following the crash, only reopening around 8am the next morning. Emergency teams continue to support police inquiries into the fatal collision.
