Crash Shuts A27 Both Ways in West Sussex

The A27 is closed in both directions after a serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian. The shutdown covers the stretch between the A24 near Worthing and the A280 near Clapham. Expect delays well into the night as emergency services and Sussex Police deal with the scene.

Massive Delays & Diversions in Place

National Highways contractors are on site managing traffic, with diversions now active. Westbound drivers should follow the ‘Hollow Triangle diversion signs—head north on the A24 from Offington Roundabout, then west along the A280 to rejoin the A27 at Clapham Interchange.

Eastbound motorists must look out for the ‘Hollow Diamond’ signs, directing traffic from the A280 to the A24 southbound, before merging back onto the A27 at Offington Roundabout.

Plan Your Journey or Stay Put

Authorities urge drivers to allow extra travel time, try alternative routes, or postpone journeys if possible. National Highways warns the closure will last for several hours. Stay tuned and plan ahead!
