Police have swooped on a home in North Bristol, arresting a man on suspicion of possession of offensive weapons. The suspect remains in custody as officers conduct a thorough search of his Shetland Road residence.

Residents Evacuated as Bomb Squad Called In

Following the discovery of potentially dangerous items, a 50-metre cordon has been set up around the property. Several nearby homes have been evacuated as a precaution.

The Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is now on site to assess and safely handle the items found.

Police Stress No Terror Link

Officials are keen to reassure the public that this is not a terrorist incident. “All actions taken so far are purely precautionary while we carry out a full search,” police said.

The arrested man is cooperating with enquiries as officers continue their investigation.
