A Newcastle barber has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his shop last June.
Hussain Mousa Denies Charges
Hussain Mousa, 34, of Elswick, pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault during a brief hearing at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court this week. He only confirmed his personal details in court.
Next Steps: Crown Court Hearing Set
Prosecutor Brian Payne stated the alleged assault occurred on 10 June 2025 at a Newcastle barbershop. District Judge Meek told Mousa:
“Because you have elected to have your trial at the crown court, your next hearing will be at Newcastle Crown Court. It’s in the same building, just upstairs. You will be bailed to attend there at 10am on 25 March. If you fail to attend, it’s likely a warrant will be issued for your arrest and an absconding charge could be laid against you. The case could also proceed in your absence. There is one condition on your bail and that is that you keep your address as a correspondence address.”
The case now moves to Newcastle Crown Court, with Mousa out on bail pending the next hearing.
