Major Search Underway for Missing Man on Dover Cliffs

Emergency services have launched a frantic search for a missing man in his 60s in the St Margaret’s Bay area of Dover tonight (Saturday 20 August 2022).

Coastguard and Police Join Forces

The Coastguard and Kent Police scrambled to Hotel Road after reports the man had vanished hours earlier. Rescue teams from Deal, Dover, and Folkestone are combing the cliffs. The RNLI lifeboat from Walmer is also on the water, searching the coastline for any sign.

High-Risk Missing Person

The man is considered high-risk, prompting a major operation by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. A spokesperson confirmed:

“Coastguard rescue teams are working with Kent Police to search for a man who has been reported missing. The search is ongoing and is being led by Kent Police.

Kent Police have been contacted for comment as the urgent search continues into the night.
