Dagenham Bus Driver Hospitalised After Shocking Hit-and-Run

Motorcyclist Struck on Heathway

A local bus driver was rushed to hospital following a serious hit-and-run late Tuesday night in Dagenham. The crash happened around 11pm on 26 August near the Ripple Road bus depot on Heathway.

Witnesses say the victim, believed to be an Arriva bus driver heading home, was riding his motorcycle when a car slammed into him.

Emergency Response and Abandoned Car Found

Emergency services acted fast. The London Ambulance Service took the injured man to hospital under police escort, but his condition remains unclear.

The offending vehicle did a runner but was found abandoned just 800 yards away down a side street. Eyewitnesses spotted a man being bundled into a police van near the scene shortly after the crash.

Police Launch Full Investigation

Police have launched a probe into the hit-and-run. A heavy police presence stayed in the area well into the early hours. Arrest details are yet to be confirmed.

“I was told by a bus driver that the motorcyclist was returning from work. He believes he was one of their colleagues from the Ripple Road depot. The ambulance left with a police escort — it looked very serious,” said one eyewitness.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

The Metropolitan Police have not yet issued an official statement. Anyone with information or dashcam footage from the Heathway area around the time of the crash is urged to call 101.
