Dagenham Bus Driver Critical After Hit-and-Run Crash

A local bus driver was rushed to hospital following a brutal hit-and-run smash in Dagenham late Tuesday night.

Motorcyclist Struck Near Ripple Road Depot

The collision happened just before 11pm on Heathway, close to the Ripple Road bus depot. Witnesses say the victim, believed to be an Arriva bus driver riding home on his motorcycle, was hit by a car that didn’t stop.

Driver Flees Scene, Abandoned Car Found Nearby

After hitting the motorcyclist, the driver fled the scene. Police later found an abandoned car about 800 yards away, tucked down a side street. Moments after the crash, onlookers reported seeing a man being loaded into a police van nearby.

Emergency Services Respond Fast

London Ambulance Service rushed the injured motorcyclist to hospital under police escort. His condition remains unknown. A heavy police presence stayed in the area into the early hours as the investigation heats up.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

The Met Police have not yet issued an official statement. They are urging anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward on 101.

“I was told by a bus driver that the motorcyclist was returning from work. He believes he was one of their colleagues from the Ripple Road depot. The ambulance left with a police escort — it looked very serious.”
