Kayaker Stranded on Mud Bank Rescued by Kent Firefighters
A man was rescued after his kayak got stuck on a mud bank along the River Darent on the morning of Saturday, 16 August 2025.
Rapid Response from Fire and Rescue Teams
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) rushed to the scene at 10:18am following reports that a kayaker was trapped. One fire engine and two specialist water safety units were dispatched to help.
Firefighters used rescue lines and an inflatable pathway to safely bring the man back to shore. Kent Police were also on-site. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Fire Service Urges Public to Act Fast in Water Emergencies
After the rescue, KFRS issued a crucial safety reminder. If anyone spots someone struggling in rivers, lakes, or other waters in Kent and Medway, they must dial 999 and ask for the fire service immediately.
