Urgent Search for Newborn Baby Missing in Freezing London Streets
Detectives are urgently calling on the public to help find a newborn baby believed to be sleeping rough in subzero temperatures. The tiny tot, barely a week old, went missing alongside parents Constance Marten, 35, and Mark Gordon, 48.
Last Seen Buying Camping Gear Near Whitechapel
On Saturday 7 January, the family was spotted at an Argos on Whitechapel Road, E1, at 6:19 pm. Mark paid in cash for two large bags containing a blue two-man tent, two sleeping bags and pillows, leaving the store at 6:40 pm.
The trio wandered the Whitechapel Road area for three hours. They tried unsuccessfully to hail black cabs before fleeing on foot. Their last confirmed sighting was at 10 pm walking along Brick Lane towards Bethnal Green Road, with Mark often leading the way.
Police Fear Baby Left Exposed to Deadly Cold
“We are very worried that this newborn, less than a week old, has been forced to endure freezing temperatures, possibly camping outdoors,” said Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford, leading the investigation.
“No child should suffer such life-threatening conditions. It’s critical anyone with info contacts us immediately, whether recent or older sightings. Every detail matters.”
The family might be hiding among homeless communities in London or camping in isolated rural areas. Police urge everyone to stay alert, especially in wastelands or parks.
