New Speed Camera Set to Crack Down on Kirkby-in-Ashfield Speeders

Drivers beware: A new speed and red light camera is about to go live on the A38 at Kirkby-in-Ashfield. Authorities are warning motorists to slow down or face prosecution as road safety takes centre stage.

450 Speeding Offences a Day Prompt Urgent Action

The Nottinghamshire Safety Camera Partnership has installed the camera in a 30mph zone, with Nottinghamshire Police ready to enforce the limit.

“Pre-commissioning, we have been seeing around 450 speeding offences being detected every day along this particular main route which is worrying, particularly as this goes through a pedestrian crossing,” said Inspector Simon Allen, a member of the Safety Camera Partnership.

“We want to reduce speed and make this area safer for all road users. We want to educate drivers to slow down, which is why we are giving people advance notice for transparency and for their awareness.”

Serious Collisions Spark Safety Clampdown

Police data reveals two fatal crashes and numerous serious and minor injuries have occurred here in recent years. Speed limits exist for a reason, and speeding remains a serious concern for local residents.

“That’s why we regularly undertake speeding operations and checks in affected areas in response to concerns,” added Insp Allen.

“We hope this new camera will act as a deterrent, make drivers slow down and think twice before taking any unnecessary risks and ultimately help save lives.”

Stick to the Limit or Pay Up

With this tough new enforcement in place, drivers crossing the A38 in Kirkby-in-Ashfield should expect zero tolerance on speed. Slow down, stay safe, and avoid a costly fine.
