Ferocious Fire Tears Through Cheshire Homes

A blazing inferno ripped through a house and two flats on Abbotts Way, Cheshire, at 1:30pm, sending six fire engines, police, and paramedics rushing to the scene.

Miraculously, everyone inside escaped alive. Four people sustained injuries, but none are believed to be life-threatening.

Mass Evacuation and Road Closures

Several homes were evacuated as police sealed off the area and set up a cordon. Displaced residents found refuge at a temporary shelter in the New Images Youth Centre.

Neighbouring properties are being checked for flare-ups, with firefighters still battling hotspots well into the night. By 9pm, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service had scaled back to three engines plus a high reach turret from Macclesfield.

Community Rallies to Support Fire Victims

Local residents have flooded social media offering donations of clothes, shoes, toiletries, and furniture to those affected.

Winsford Town FC tweeted, “Our thoughts are with everyone involved in today’s fire. If you know anyone affected, message us for help — we’ll do everything we can.”

The Top House and Brighton Belle pubs in Winsford are also collecting donations. “We will liaise with those affected,” they said. “It would be incredible to see Winsford come together in this time of need.”

Local Leaders Speak Out

“What matters most is that there were some walking wounded but no fatalities,” said Cllr Stuart Bingham, who visited the scene. “I wish everyone affected a speedy recovery. This will be disastrous for the residents, and I ask everyone to respect their privacy.”

Cllr Nathan Pardoe added, “I hope all injured make a speedy recovery. Thanks to the emergency services for their quick response.”
