Smoke Sparks Fire Alarm at Royal Free Hospital
Emergency services rushed to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead after reports of smoke filling a ward. Fire crews were scrambled to the Rowland Hill site just before midday on Saturday.
Ward on 8th Floor Filling with Smoke
The hospital’s automatic fire alarm blared as staff on the 8th floor warned that the ward was filling with smoke. The Royal Free, known as a major teaching hospital, saw firefighters don breathing apparatus to investigate the cause.
Evacuation Status Unclear
It’s not yet confirmed if a full evacuation has been ordered. Firefighters remain on scene combing the hospital to locate the smoke source.
