School Run Chaos as Car Smashes Into Digger Trailer in Portsmouth
Chaos broke out just after 8.30 a.m. at the busy Kirby Road and Lyndhurst Road junction in Portsmouth. A Vauxhall pulling onto Kirby Road smashed into a trailer carrying a mini digger, causing the trailer to topple over and crash into a parked car.
Terrified Kids Narrowly Escape Serious Injury
Schoolchildren walking to College Park Juniors were left shaken but thankfully unhurt. One local mum told This Morning, “It was shocking; we heard a loud bang and then saw the mini digger topple over. There were loads of kids nearby – someone could have been seriously injured if they were crossing at the time.”
Parents were warned of the traffic chaos after the school sent urgent emails about the incident disrupting the morning rush.
Fuel Spill Sparks Environmental Clean-Up
The crash caused fuel to spill onto the road, forcing Colas Roads to step in with specialised environmental packs. A clean-up operation is now underway to clear the hazardous mess and get traffic flowing again.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported despite the dramatic toppling of heavy machinery on a busy school route.
